Baba’s Alla was very ill and in intensive care and then rallied and was sitting up, joking and looking as if she would come home soon. Suddenly, Saturday morning, October 15, 2011, around 3:00 AM, she got out of bed and fell and then died shortly after. For that reason, an autopsy was called for. At the time of this writing we do not know the cause of death, but perhaps we can say that Baba chose to snatch her up at that moment! In the photo above, taken by Nancy Perham and posted by permission, Alla stands before a portrait of Murshida Ivy O. Duce. Moments before, Murshida had been telling some mureeds that Alla was translating God Speaks into Russian.   Thanks to Alla’s friends Carol Wexler, Wayne Knapp, and Alex Sprinkle, and Alla’s son, Dave, for the following brief bio.  (Please see also Jean Ludwig’s account of her friend Alla.) Alla was born in Moscow, USSR, on December 25, 1937. She had a degree and an established career in engineering, but when the doors opened for the Jews to leave the Soviet Union, she chose to emigrate with her young son to America. For many years she lived in the Bronx and worked in New York as a bookkeeper. She retired to the Upper West Side of Manhattan, one of her favorite parts of New York City. Alla spent many years in a spiritual pursuit, attended many Theosophy meetings, and studied Gurdjieff’s teachings before Meher Baba found her. Alla told Wayne that she felt it was due to a meeting that she had with Ammachi that she was then internally led, or circumstances conspired to bring her, to Baba. Alla managed to travel to India an amazing seven times. She was very close to Mani and spent hours and hours with the mast Mohammad. By the time Carol met her in 1995 she was finished traveling to India, but how glorious her experiences were. Carol recalls that Alla had wanted a dog but was not allowed to have one in her apartment. However, for her fiftieth birthday she was given a white dove named Dougie. Dave reports that Dougie is 23 years old as of 2011 and is still living in her apartment! Please see also  Bhau’s message on a separate page. From the live chat transcript Sunday 16 October 2011: Bhau KalchuriMeher Nazar – WiseShev – Dear Bhauji, We heard yesterday that Alla Sherman dropped her body in NY after serious illness. I do not know all details. Mother C: Alla, your Russian mother from NY, wrote a message this morning, went to Baba. — Bhau Kalchuri – Please note this, she has gone direct to Baba, and after His darshan, she has come back in different form this morning, I just gave my message to her, and she was very, very happy. Jai Ho! Jai Ho!! Jai Ho!!! Jai Jai kar Ho! Yours! my dearest Alla, Jai Ho! — Nobody has any idea – when they follow God in form of Meher Baba, though her entry into the direct way to God opens. And they don’t go here-there. They go direct to Him. And come back. But only one way is there for everyone who are following Meher Baba. So Jai Ho! Jai Ho!! Jai Ho!!! Jai Jai kar Ho yours, my Mother Alla. Know well, you will come and go, but direct to Him, will not go here-there. Form will be changed, but direct, direct way is open for you. Jai Ho, Jai Ho, Jai Ho, Jai Jai kar Ho! — This morning, I just gave my message to her, and she was very, very happy. Jai Ho! Jai Ho!! Jai Ho!!! Jai Jai kar Ho! Yours! my dearest Alla, Jai Ho! —
