Charles Thomas Milne
11 January 1946 – 6 November 2011
Charles Thomas Milne returned to Beloved Meher Baba on November 6, 2011. He first learned of Baba from Henry Kashouty in 1969, when he was seeking advice about his upcoming draft physical. At the end of a long evening’s discussion about the Avatar, Henry simply told Charles, “let Baba take care of it.” Sure enough, Charles developed a sudden (and quite temporary) eye inflammation during his exam and was given an exemption from service. When he learned of the 1969 Darshan, he sold his Hammond organ for a ticket to Meherabad and was forever changed by the experience.
Throughout the 70’s and 80’s, Charles devoted much of his filmmaking talent and musicianship to the Society for Avatar Meher Baba in New York. In the early 90’s he moved to western North Carolina and continued his service as musical director at St. Williams Catholic Church in Murphy.
A celebration of his life will be held at the church on Friday, Nov 18th at 3 PM.
