  • What a mischevious childlike man. He wanted to play tag and would sneak up and dig you in the ribs and welcomed anyone to the game. This behavior was not considered as showing the proper respect for the sanctity of the Samadhi and those of us who chose to play with him were soon warned-nicely but definitely. Was there any point of compromise with Baba? I tried to find one and tried to keep a teasing relationship and still tone down the rowdy side..but there were lapses. Gitaram understood when i had been corrected. Sometimes Gitaram was the bright note in the day! He was addicted to the Samadhi and would visit it every couple of hours paying respect to each and every mandali buried there. Altho he appeared to be an annoyance to the ones who had management duty on the Hill, he was quietly very helpful in seeing that things ran as smoothly as possible. Some however had good reason to doubt his sanity. Some told me that even Bhauji could not keep him toned down. May he play with Baba eternally. i will miss him.
