Ken Kaufman passed into his Beloved’s Arms in Asheville, NC, on the afternoon of September 30, 2011, around 2 PM, as his wife Lynn and son Steven repeated Meher Baba’s Name at his bedside. This was his final wish, and Lynn said that the atmosphere was very beautiful, peaceful, and love-filled!
On Sunday, Oct 9th, a special slide show assembled by Ken over the last months will be shown at Tom and Cathy Riley’s home, sharing Ken’s journey towards His Beloved Baba. Ken had joined photos he’d taken during his beloved bike rides on the Blue Ridge Parkway and nature shots of our lovely WNC area, accompanied by beautiful ancient Hebrew and Aramaic words describing the Avatar, with touching texted explanations of these hallowed attributes. There are also beautiful photos of Mehera taken by Ken in India years ago to complete the show. A lovely musical background picked by Ken adds so much to this amazing and majestic presentation!
Ken was at the previous weekend’s Baba meeting, joking and light-heartedly speaking of his passing and hopeful return into a loving Baba family! May we all face our physical life-endings with such style and grace! [From a message by Cathy Riley, slightly edited]
A Chapel Hill Baba lover, Ken Kaufman, has passed on. I did not realize how devout a person he was until I read this [account above] because he didn’t talk very openly about Meher Baba — he was a modest person who wore Meher Baba in his heart rather than on his sleeve. I last saw him at the 40th darshan reunion in Myrtle Beach. His story of the 1969 darshan is in my book The Empty Chair. Ken was living in Asheville when he passed away.
