“I took the photo of my dad just a couple of months before he passed. His smile was always like that. As he was dying in the hospital from a heart attack, from the hallway we could all hear him repeating Baba’s name between moans of pain.” Ella Dascalos

[On the morning of April 19, 2011] in Denver, Colorado, USA, our dear brother in Baba and long-standing pillar of the Avatar Meher Baba Denver Center, Nick Dascalos, died of a heart attack. He was surrounded by his family — his wife of nearly 40 years, Janet, and their daughters Tina, Ella, and Anna.

Nick was a constant light of enthusiasm in his love and devotion to Meher Baba. Over the years Nick and Janet have opened their arms, hearts and home to many Baba lovers, and those in need, and welcomed all in Baba’s name.

Jai, Jai, Avatar Meher Baba!

  • I know that you’re not far from us, Nick, but I miss you a little more these days.

  • OK, it’s been a quiet six months, Nick, and you deserve the rest after such a busy, generous time down here. But I miss you greatly, and lately I just talk to you out loud, and I’ll continue that. Your hometown team is playing and the new kid leads the team with your level of enthusiasm. I don’t see how they can miss today…
Your love for Meher Baba inspires me. I remember how much you enjoyed Naosherwan’s powerful contact with us the last time he visited Denver, and know you enjoyed his unending giving this past Sahavas.
And I can hear you hooting it up after Jim Meyer’s every song. Naosherwan’s message, of sharing Baba’s love often and clearly — you did this constantly with that smile. I miss you greatly, and enjoy holding you in my thoughts because you’re always such a support… When I see a bum panhanding on the street I remember your concern for the veteran. And you had a warm concern for everyone.
Talk to you soon Nick! JAI MEHER BABA!

Dear Baba’s Nick. I was so sad to read of Nick’s passing. He were so kind to me a few years back when i was the guest at Colorado Sahavas. Nick’s cheerfulness was an inspiration to one and all. much love and God Speed, In His Song Raine

  • we who are no longer in Denver are still a little bit in shock over Nick’s sudden passing. He was unique in his cheery devotion to Baba and a long standing member of the Denver group. all who knew him marveled at his “better than good” attitude, no matter what the internal circumstances. He gave Baba his all and I’m sure that pleased Baba very much.
Now for a long and well deserved rest in beloved Baba’s arms.
    Jai Baba Nick.

Nick has taught me real life lessons to live a simple life…

    have no pretensions…

reach out and help as much as you can…

I will always miss him and always wanted to spend time with Nick and Janet both in India and United States… I left US four years back… with plan to come back soon… but destiny had something else written for me… Oh Nick I will so much miss you and the discussions we use to have… you are so lovely human being… Baba would be really proud of you… so am I. I wished I could take you around in India… well all we can do is wish…

Dear Baba why time moves so fast?

Dear Nick lots of love to you!!!

    Pritam
